Hot tubs are often seen as a luxury item. But did you know that a 20-minute soak session in a hot tub is good for your health? That’s why hot tubs are much more than a luxury. They’re an investment in your health and wellness!

Researchers including Dr. Doreen Stiskal of Seton Hall University and Dr. Bruce Becker from Washington State University have studied the effects of warm water immersion therapy on individuals for a number of years. Bathers remained in the tubs with water temperatures ranging from 94F to 102F for anywhere from 20 to 24 minutes.

Here is what they, and other researchers, have discovered:

Hot Tubs Offer Ongoing Pain Relief

Because water is buoyant, it significantly reduces the pressurizing effects of gravity on the muscles and joints of arthritis sufferers. As a result, those with arthritis and other joint/ligament conditions can have less pain and be more comfortable after a 20-minute soak in a hot tub.

Hot Tubs Calm Your Nerves

Dr. Becker’s research found that soaking in warm water for approximately 20 minutes has a similar effect on the nervous system as meditation does. Some of these effects include:

  • Reduction in stress levels
  • Promotion of self-reflection and emotional balance
  • Reduction in anxiety

Because of the relaxing effects of soaking in a tub, a number of other positive benefits follow suit including improved quality and duration of sleep, better self-confidence, and an improved overall sense of personal well-being.

Hot Tubs Boost Cardiovascular Health

Immersing your body in warm water all the way up to your neck means giving your body a great cardio workout without having to hit the pavement or the treadmill. Water puts pressure on your body which increases your cardiac volume and forces your heart to naturally work harder and become stronger.

Research provided by Thomas Allison, M.P.H., Ph.D. further confirmed that sitting in warm water is great for our hearts. According to his study, sitting in a hot tub can lower your blood pressure which reduces your risk of suffering from heart disease or hypertension.

There is a hot tub for everybody and every budget. Unlike ever before modern hot tubs come with an array of features including seating options, jet options, entertainment options, and more.
